Anas?

My name is Anas Metwally, I guess this is the part about me that doesn’t change! and I’m an Electrical Engineer. In Arabic Anas means sociable and of good company😂, I like to think I have a lightweight existence.

I hold a B.E. in Electrical Engineering with a concentration on power electronics and electric machines. Through my 5 years of engineering, I was engaged in almost all E.E. disciplines, it wasn’t until my senior year and particularly during the graduation project that I realized that circuit design / PCB design is a great pleasure to me.

I used to think of myself usually as a theoretical person, one who thrills with books and formulas, this made my first two years in engineering particularly uneasy, on one hand, I was fond of theoretical subjects like electromagnetism, and on the other, didn’t find much interest in application-based subjects, later as I understood more of theory the gap narrowed, and I started to appreciate applications, it is then that I started thinking of myself as an engineer.

I started my professional life at Nagwa as a physics content developer, there I met people like me interested in understanding why things are the way they are, and this was great. After the end of my year and a half there, my understanding of physics and electromagnetism got much better.

Then I worked as a full-time Electronics Hardware Engineer at BioBusiness-EG for about two and a half years, now I work as a PCB layout  Engineer at Siemens Advanta, more in my LinkedIn profile.

In general, I like reading, alongside reading in my professional interests, I like to read novels and philosophy, and I’m a great admirer of Naguib Mahfouz. Cinema is one of my major interests, I like to explore stories and people from different places, someone once asked me about one film to recommend, I grinned, cinema, as I understand, is the whole thing, he insisted, I said DEKALOG, it is actually a mini-series.
